“People’s” Sexiest Man Alive Issue Features Levine, Buble, Timberlake, Legend, Prince & More

Art Streiber/NBCAs of today, Adam Levine is no longer People’s Sexiest Man Alive: Australian actor Chris Hemsworth, best known for playing Thor in the Marvel series of superhero films, including The Avengers, has claimed the honor for 2014.  So how is Adam taking the news that he no longer holds that title?

“Very well,” laughs People staff editor Antoinette Coulton. “Y’know, it’s a year officially, but people talk about this even after the year is up.  So I’m sure he wishes Chris well. He’s in the issue as well, as our outgoing guy, and he’s having fun with it.”

Adam doesn’t have much to complain about: in the year since he took the title, he won The Voice again, appeared in a movie, topped the charts with Maroon 5, and got married.  In the new Sexiest Man Alive issue, on stands Friday, he’s featured in a segment called “Facing Their Fears,” where hot stars are asked what scares them the most.  Adam says, “Death. Because I love my life.”

John Legend is also featured in the segment, and Coulton says John reveals his greatest fear is a recurring dream he has where “he’s in college and he never gets to class on time and he never earns his degree — even though he does have his degree.”

A feature called Sexy at Every Age features One Direction‘s Harry Styles among sexy men in their twenties, Justin Timberlake and Michael Buble among sexy men in their thirties, and Prince and Lenny Kravitz among sexy men in their fifties.

“Anyone who saw his latest performance on SNL, would think that Prince, through the decades?  He’s a mainstay,” Coulton says of putting the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer on the list.  As for JT, Coulton says, “I think he made that transition from boy band member to full-fledged musician and he made it seamlessly. There’s no scandal. He looks great and we love him for that.”

Coulton, meanwhile, thinks that Buble’s new status as a married father has made him even more sexy.  “And I think he just has to open his mouth and sing a couple of bars and you want to swoon,” she laughs.

A few other musicians featured in the issue: Adam Levine’s Voice buddy Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani‘s rocker husband Gavin Rossdale, Adam Lambert — in a segment called “From Geeky to Gorgeous” — and Enrique Iglesias, in a segment highlighting the countries that have produced the sexiest men.

You can drool over all these hot guys when People’s Sexiest Man Alive issue hits newsstands Friday.
