‘Home Alone 2’ star tweets support for removing Trump’s cameo

‘Home Alone 2’ star tweets support for removing Trump’s cameo

As President Donald Trump prepares to make his exit from the White House, fans of “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” want him to make a permanent, on-screen exit from the movie — and its star Macaulay Culkin seems to be on board with the idea.

Culkin played Kevin McAllister, who gets separated from his family and ends up in New York. At one point, Kevin crosses paths with Trump at the Plaza Hotel. He asks Trump for directions to the hotel’s lobby and Trump responds by casually pointing him in the right direction.

Some fans of the movie want to remove Trump from that scene — and one Twitter user did just that.

The user posted his version the scene at the Plaza Hotel and this time Kevin is seen talking to a mute, invisible figure instead of Trump. The actor responded with a single word to the edited video: “Bravo.”

Another Twitter user proposed creating a “petition to digitally replace trump in ‘home alone 2’ with 40-year-old macaulay culkin.”

“Sold.” Culkin wrote in response.

In addition to the tweets, a petition on Change.org asks Disney to replace Trump with President-elect Joe Biden.

“Home Alone 2 is tarnished. It has a racist stain on it in the shape of Donald J Trump,” the petitioner wrote. “I petition that he be edited out of the film and replaced with Joe Biden.”

Not the first time Trump cut from ‘Home Alone 2’

In 2019, CBC, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. aired the film without Trump’s cameo hours after the President expressed to overseas service members how he was honored to be in “one of the biggest” Christmas hits.

When CNN reached put to CBC for comment at the time, the Canadian broadcaster responded with a statement that the movie was “edited for time.”

“The scene with Donald Trump was one of several that were cut from the movie as none of them were integral to the plot,” the statement read. “These edits were done in 2014 when we first acquired the film and before Mr. Trump was elected President.”

The movie’s director says Trump forced his way into the movie

“Home Alone 2” Director Chris Columbus told Insider last month the filmmakers had approached Trump with the idea to film in the Plaza Hotel — which Trump owned at the time— because they wanted to shoot in the lobby and couldn’t “rebuild The Plaza on a soundstage.”

“Trump said OK. We paid the fee, but he also said, ‘The only way you can use the Plaza is if I’m in the movie,'” Columbus said. “So we agreed to put him in the movie, and when we screened it for the first time the oddest thing happened: People cheered when Trump showed up on-screen. So I said to my editor, ‘Leave him in the movie. It’s a moment for the audience.’ But he did bully his way into the movie.”

Emmanuel Acho will host ‘The Bachelor: After the Final Rose Special,’ replacing Chris Harrison

Former NFL player Emmanuel Acho will be hosting “The Bachelor: After the Final Rose,” replacing host Chris Harrison who stepped aside following a controversial interview.

Acho, the host of the YouTube series “Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man,” announced on Saturday he would host the one-hour special for the 25th season.

“I’ve accepted the Rose & am honored to be hosting the @bachelorabc After the Final Rose this year,” Acho tweeted. “It’s been a pivotal season & this episode will be one of the most storied shows in its history. Empathy is needed and change is coming. See y’all then!”

Harrison announced on February 13 he was “stepping aside” from the show “for a period of time” after defending a frontrunner on the current season who came under scrutiny for social media photos from her past.

Harrison apologized after speaking out on behalf of Rachael Kirkconnell, a contestant who was reportedly photographed at an antebellum plantation-themed fraternity formal in 2018.

It is unclear how long Harrison will be stepping aside.

This is the 25th season of ABC’s enormously popular reality dating franchise and the first in which ABC cast a Black man, Matt James, as the show’s star.

During the episode, Acho “will sit down with Bachelor Matt James to discuss his season, his final decision and where he is now, as well as cover the current events about the franchise,” ABC said in a press release.

The on-air personality and bestselling author will also speak to the season’s final three women: Kirkconnell, Michelle Young and Bri Springs.

The special episode will air on Monday, March 15, immediately after the season finale of “The Bachelor.”
