Ian Cox is a member of the Providence Tartan Army and he spoke at Hasbro Children’s yesterday as the Army presented Hasbro with a check for $10k which will support the hospital’s Hematology and Oncology Department to help kids battling cancer. The Tartan Army has a very long history of donating to charities in the cities where they celebrate. The hashtag they use is #ForTheWeeOnes
Yesterday’s check presentation featured remarks by Mayor Smiley, Sarah Frost, the Hasbro President and Ian Cox of the Providence Tartan Army… and also featured Jasper, the hospital’s 2026 Champion Child.
I also attended the TA IN THE PARK event last night. It was wild and amazing, and even after it started pouring on us, the singing by the Scots continued. Nick Morgan was there, too. He’s the man responsible for the “No Scotland No Party ” song that went viral, and the lyrics have been updated for the World Cup here in Boston. Nick told me there’s also a petition to make Glasgow and Boston sister cities.
The Providence Tartan Army has another school bus brigade heading to Boston Stadium for the game against Morocco tonight, and many Scots told me last night, that they are headed from here to Miami for the next Scotland match.
