Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (5/11/26) is ONYX the DOG! The RISPCA says, “Onyx is a stunning 2‑year‑old Cane Corso with a soft heart tucked behind a shy exterior. New people and new places can feel a little overwhelming for her, so she takes her time getting comfortable. But once she decides you’re safe, her whole demeanor shifts; she leans in gently for affection, relaxes at your side, and shows you just how deeply she bonds with her people. She’s the kind of dog who gives her trust slowly, but sincerely, and it’s worth every moment of patience. She has previously lived with other dogs and may enjoy the company of a respectful canine friend. She does not have a known history with cats or children, so any introduction should be slow and thoughtful. Onyx is looking for someone who understands that trust grows gradually and who will let her blossom at her own pace. If you’re ready to welcome a sensitive, loving dog into your home, Onyx may be the perfect match. Apply to adopt today, and/or email dogs@rispca.org with any questions! 🐶”

Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (5/4/26) is RUE the DOG! The RISPCA says, “Meet Rue 🩷 This 5-year-old sweetheart is bursting with personality and always ready to make the most of every moment! Rue is full of life, with a playful, outgoing spirit and a love for being around people. She thrives on attention and companionship—whether she’s bouncing along on a walk, eagerly greeting new friends, or sticking close by your side to see what’s next. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and she brings a bright, happy energy wherever she goes. Rue is always up for fun! From outdoor adventures to playtime and everything in between, she’s the kind of dog who’s excited to be part of it all. She’s social, affectionate, and loves to stay engaged, making her a perfect match for someone looking for an active, loving companion who’s always ready to go! Apply to adopt today, and/or email dogs@rispca.org with any questions! 🐾”

Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (4/27/26) is YOYO the RABBIT! The RISPCA says, “Say hello to Yo-Yo of the Christmas Toy Litter! These baby bunnies came to us just before Christmas. They have had a rough start in their life due to some early medical challenges. But these little ones are some of the most resilient, tenacious, and friendly rabbits one can meet. They have just had their spay surgeries and are ready to find their forever homes! These rabbits are sweet, playful, affectionate, and perfect for any family. They will require a lot of time to roam, play, and run around. If you’re looking for a rabbit to open your heart and home to, they are amazing little ones! With questions about Yo-yo, or any of their other small animals available for adoption, e-mail Smallies@rispca.org” Please adopt/share today!

Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (4/20/26) is Paws the Cat! The RISPCA says, “Paws is a 12-year-old girl who came to us a few months ago with 3 other senior cats after their owner passed away. The other cats were very social and were adopted quickly – but Paws needed time. She wasn’t sure about us at first and kept her distance, but with patience and consistency, she has really started to come around. Now, Paws will approach the people she knows and trusts to ask for attention. She enjoys petting, leaning into it…and then lets you know when she’s all set. She’s a cat who appreciates her space and will do best with someone who understands and respects that. Paws is looking for a calm, understanding home where she can continue to blossom at her own pace. She doesn’t need constant attention and may be a good match for someone who works during the day and wants a peaceful companion to come home to. What she does need is someone patient who will let her take the lead and offer her gentle encouragement. If you believe in giving shy seniors the time they deserve, Paws might be your girl.” Please adopt/share today!

Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (4/13/26) is Mayonnaise. The RISPCA says, “this gal is the whole package: sweet, playful, social, and a total catnip fiend! She loves coming across new friends and making people laugh with her antics. Mayonnaise (or Mayo as we like to call her) did not do well with the previous cats or dogs in her home, but we think she would be great with kids! With any questions about Mayonnaise, or any of our other cats, please email cats@rispca.org!”

Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIENDs of the WEEK (4/6/26) are Souzie Sassie & Blueberry Pineapple! The RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says, “This adorable duo with the silliest of names is looking for a home to call their own! Both of these lovebugs start out a little shy, but with some patience, they warm right up and are the friendliest pair! Due to their shy demeanor, we don’t think they would do well with other dogs or kids under 8, however, they do seem very interested in other cats! If you’re interested in this goofy pair, or have any questions, please email cats@rispca.org!”

Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIENDs of the WEEK (3/30/26) are Georgia and America! The RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says, “From the very first moment we met them, it was clear, these girls aren’t just friends, they’re soulmates. While we often assess whether bonded pairs might be comfortable apart, there was no question here. Georgia and America move through life as one. They walk in sync, nap curled into each other, and always seem to keep a paw or shoulder touching. And truly? It’s one of the sweetest things you’ll ever see. Both girls are everything you’d hope for in a companion: affectionate, gentle, and “sweet as pie.” They’re house-trained, easy to walk, and already know several commands including sit, down, paw, and stay. They’re the kind of dogs who settle into your routine with ease, and then make it better just by being there. Watching Georgia and America together is something special; separating them is not an option. They bring each other comfort, confidence, and joy in a way that simply can’t be replaced. These ladies are a package deal. We know asking someone to open their heart and home to two dogs is a big ask. But in this case, it also means twice the love, twice the companionship, and a front-row seat to one of the most beautiful friendships we’ve seen. If you’ve ever thought about adding more than one dog to your family… Georgia and America might just be the perfect pair.” Please adopt/share today!

Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (3/23/26) is TEXAS! The RISPCA says, “At almost 4 years old, this handsome, neutered guy is equal parts big teddy bear and loyal best friend. Texas is a total “mush ball” at heart—his favorite place in the world is right by your side. He lives for connection and just wants to soak up as much time with his people as possible. Texas is eager to please and loves having a job to do. He’s a quick learner who picks up new tricks and commands with ease, especially when treats and praise are involved. Whether it’s learning something new or just hanging out on the couch, he’s happiest when he’s with you. Shelter life has been tough on Texas. The noise and routine are stressful for him, and he really struggles with going back into his kennel after spending time with people. Because of this, he would thrive in a home where he can be part of the action and spend plenty of quality time with his family. Texas has previously lived with another dog and may do well with a canine companion after a proper introduction. Due to his strength and his lovable “small dog in a big body” personality, we think he’d do best in a home with kids 8 and up—he just doesn’t always realize how big he is and could accidentally knock over a smaller child in his excitement to love on them. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will stick by your side through thick and thin, Texas just might be your guy. He’s ready to trade in kennel stress for couch cuddles.” Please adopt/share today!

Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (3/16) is WILL! The RISPCA says, “Will is a goofy, lovable guy whose favorite place in the world is right next to his people. He’s incredibly affectionate and thrives on connection, happily leaning in for pets and soaking up all the love you have to give. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will greet you like you’re the best part of his day, Will is ready for the job. This sweet boy would do wonderfully in a home with children and truly enjoys being part of the family. He prefers to be the only pet, however, and is looking for a home without other dogs or cats so he can soak up all the attention. Will has excellent potty habits, and we expect him to transition beautifully into a home routine. He’s eager to please, making him a joy to live with and a great partner for continued training and bonding. When he’s not cuddled up on the couch, Will loves a good game of fetch and will happily chase the ball with enthusiasm before trotting back for more. After playtime, he’s more than ready to curl up beside you and relax. If you’re searching for a devoted, affectionate, and delightfully goofy companion to share your couch and your heart, Will is ready to meet you.” Adopt/share today!

Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIENDS of the WEEK (3/9) are Guinea Pigs named Ginny & Kiwi! The RISPCA says, “these two girls are the absolute best of friends, and like most great things, they too come as a pair. Kiwi is the youngster of the duo, and at 10 months old, she is as sweet as it comes and definitely knows how to lounge in a comfortable spot. Ginny is the senior of the duo. At 4 years old, she has the age and wisdom and isn’t afraid to correct Kiwi when she does something incorrectly. Like her best friend, she has a quiet, gentle soul. These two would do best in a home with older teens, gentle children, or guinea pig-experienced households. They can be shy with new people and will require some time to build trust. With questions about Kiwi and Ginny, or any of our other small animals available for adoption, e-mail smallies@rispca.org.”

Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (3/2) is MONTANA! The RISPCA says, “Nearly three years ago, Montana was rescued from a cruelty situation and began a long, complicated journey to freedom. For a year and a half, she waited patiently in our care while the court system decided her fate. When she was finally released, Montana did what she does best: she kept moving forward. Today, Montana is a smart, resilient, and joyful dog who is still discovering what it means to simply be loved. She learns quickly, loves to play, and lights up when she gets to run and chase toys. When playtime winds down, Montana is all heart. She adores snuggles and will happily climb into a lap for pats, hugs, and affection. She’s been enjoying frequent sleepovers at a foster home, learning how wonderful life on the couch can be—and she’s ready for one of her own. Montana would do best in a teen-and-up home as the only pet, where she can continue to blossom. She also comes with a Take My Lead grant, providing free training through Handsome Dan’s Rescue to help her settle into her forever home. Every day, Montana shows us how powerful second chances can be. Now all she needs is someone to choose her. 🐾 Apply to adopt today, and/or email dogs@rispca.org with any questions! 🐶”

Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (2/17) is IRIS! The RISPCA says, “Iris is a total love bug with the happiest, most infectious spirit. Within minutes of meeting new friends, she’s already belly-up, ready for tummy rubs and soaking in all the affection she can get! This sweet girl is always up for an adventure and absolutely lives for beach days during the warmer months; sand, sun, and smiles are her specialty. Iris has previously lived successfully with children and would thrive as the only pet in the home, where she can soak up all the love and attention. If your family is looking for a joyful, affectionate companion to join you on daily adventures and make every day a little brighter, Iris just might be the perfect match!”
Please adopt/share today!

Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (2/9) is Shabba, a 5yo German Shepherd! The RISPCA says, “Shabba is a beacon of loyalty and gentleness. Her curious and inquisitive nature makes her a joy to watch as she explores her surroundings with a smart, thoughtful gaze. Despite her shyness, Shabba’s sweet and friendly demeanor shines through, especially once she warms up to new friends. She approaches life with a stoic grace, making her a calm and comforting companion. Shabba would do best in a quiet home as an only pet and with teens (+).” Please adopt/share!

Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (2/2) is DELTA! The RISPCA says, “Delta is a gorgeous 9½-year-old German Shepherd weighing 86.5 pounds and bringing all the best qualities of the breed—loyalty, intelligence, and devotion—without the puppy chaos. Delta is perfectly house-trained and enjoys going for walks before settling in to relax and vibe with his people. He does well meeting new folks once properly introduced, and once you’re in, you’re in. This is a dog who truly bonds with his humans. Delta knows “sit”, is highly motivated by treats and praise, and genuinely wants to do the right thing for his people. He would prefer to be the only dog in the home, where he can soak up all the love and attention. Medically, Delta is doing well—he has only normal, age-related osteoarthritis, which doesn’t stop him from enjoying daily walks and quality time. If you’re searching for a steady, loving companion who’s past the wild stage and ready to be your loyal sidekick, Delta may be the perfect addition to your home.” Please adopt/share!

Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (1/26/26) is a 9yo adorable Lab Mix named Wilma! The RISPCA says, “Meet Wilma, a senior dog with a heart full of love! Known for her friendly demeanor, Wilma is the epitome of a gentle and mellow companion, making her perfect for someone seeking a calm and loving friend. She enjoys leisurely walks and cozy afternoons. Wilma’s serene presence brings a soothing atmosphere to any home. Adopting Wilma means gaining a loyal friend who appreciates the simple joys of life and provides unconditional love in her golden years! We don’t have any history of Wilma with other dogs or kids, but Wilma’s lived with a cat in the past, so her new home may even include a new kitty friend!”

Heather & Matty’s FURRY FRIEND of the WEEK (1/19/26) GRACE the dog! The RISPCA says, “Grace is a sweet, friendly, and curious four-year-old Mixed Breed. Like a lot of us during the New Year season, Grace has some weight loss goals in mind. With a healthy diet and daily strolls, we know Grace is going to achieve her dream waist in no time! If you are looking for a sweet companion to join in on movie nights, daily walks, and even house cleaning (she is an absolute pro at picking crumbs off the floor!), you may just find your match in Grace!
