There was Zack, the preppie star of the show, Screech, the strange nerd with a voice that sounded much like his name, Lisa, the aspiring dress designer, and their friends Slater, the handsome jock, Kelly, the cute girl all the guys liked, and Jessie, the intelligent girl. If you, like me, feel like you know each and every one of the โSaved By The Bellโ charactersโฆyou might be surprised.
On September 1st at 9pm, Lifetime will air The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story and it promises to tell the scandalous โtrue storyโ of the cult 1990s series. The movie is loosely based on Dustin โScreechโ Diamondโs controversial tell-all book โBehind the Bell,โ which claimed there were plenty of hook-ups and drug use among the young stars. One of the original casting directors also used actual interviews from original cast members for the movie material, although none cooperated with this feature, hence the โunathorizedโ in the title.
